New tile installation in a renovated bathroom

Tile is forever — install it like it

Tile outlasts everything around it. The vanity will be replaced twice before the tile needs attention — if it was installed right. Straight layout, consistent grout lines, lippage-free surfaces, and waterproofing behind every wet-area tile. Bad tile work announces itself on day one and never stops. Good tile work just quietly looks right for decades.

Where we tile

Showers and tub surrounds

Our most technical tile work. Waterproof membrane on every wet-area wall, sealed corners and penetrations, properly sloped pan or pre-sloped base, niche and bench detailing. Tile is not waterproof — grout is not waterproof — the membrane behind them is what keeps water out of your walls. We never tile a shower over plain drywall.

Bathroom floors and walls

Level beds, uncoupling membrane where the substrate needs it, tight grout lines. Heated floor systems roughed in when you want them — far cheaper to add during the tile job than after.

Kitchen backsplashes

Subway, large format, mosaic, handmade-look — set straight, cut clean around outlets and switches, grouted even. A backsplash is small square footage with outsized visual impact; the details show.

Floors, entries, laundry rooms

High-traffic and wet-prone areas where tile earns its keep. Proper underlayment, expansion joints where the assembly needs them.

Layout is the craft

Centering the layout so cuts land symmetrically, wrapping patterns around corners sensibly, planning niche placement before the first tile is set — this is the difference between tile that looks designed and tile that looks installed. We dry-lay and plan before we mix the first batch of thinset.

Grout and sealing

The right grout for the joint width and location, sealed where sealing matters. We tell you how to maintain it — because the best installation still needs basic care to look good in ten years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you waterproof behind shower tile?

Always. Membrane on walls, sealed corners and penetrations, sloped pan. Tile and grout are not waterproof — the system behind them is what protects your home.

Can you tile over my existing tile?

Rarely a good idea — it hides problems and adds height at thresholds and fixtures. We usually recommend removal so we can verify the substrate.

How do you keep grout lines even?

Layout planning, spacers or leveling systems, and checking as we go. Consistent joints are a discipline, not luck.

What tile do you recommend for a shower floor?

Small-format or mosaic — more grout lines mean more grip and easier sloping to the drain. Large tile on a shower floor is a slip and drainage problem.
